Peonies

May makes me one happy wedding planner. Wedding season has begun and my favorite flowers are in bloom, The Peony. The peony is well known by brides as a beautiful flower to have in her wedding details but there is so much more to this delicate flower.

      

Peonies date back thousands are years and are often found in Greek mythology. The peony was named after Paeon, the Greek god of medicine and healing. It is said that Paeon was given the flower on Mount Olympus from the mother of Apollo. It is also said that Paeon was saved from a terrible fate of death by being turned into the flower we know today as the peony.

             

The peony is loved world wide and is the traditional floral symbol of China.

                                  

 Well know through out Japanese art and tattoos it is more common in Japanese art than the coy fish.

              


Peonies are also the state flower of Indiana!



All of my life I have been mystified by this stunning flower. As an adult I proudly have grown my own Peonies in my back yard and now have 13 buds waiting to burst open at any moment.

               

Not only are they fragrant and beautiful but they have a rich history. Their grace has the world in its petals and keep our spirits high.

The Alexander is known for it art centric vibe, creative culinary and crafted cocktails. For weddings this is ever present as Hanger 1 Vodka is the headliner of our Abstract Bar package for weddings and events.

As a vodka drinker my self I was at first perturbed that we were not choosing the safe choice of Kettle One or Grey Goose. It was only until I had the opportunity to try it that my world as I knew it changed forever. Smooth as butter and fruit forward this vodka is the epitome of vodka on the rocks as well as crafted cocktails. 

Made by St. George Spirits in Alameda California in an actual airplane hangar known as the old Alameda Naval Air station. A beautiful blend of pot distilled viognier grapes and column distilled American Wheat is the heart of this spirit. The hanger also serves as a great tourist destination in the San Francisco Bay area as it is open to the public for tours and tastings.

Initial Consultation.

This beautiful couple and I met just as the building was being completed, the final touches were being added and the Chandeliers had just gone up. The stage was set for them to find their venue and hopefully it would be The Alexander Hotel.

As you may have already figured it out, The Alexander was their choice!

When the contract was signed we dove right into planning mode as we only had a couple months to design and detail the wedding of their dreams. Soon after our initial consultation we hosted our very first tasting at The Alexander Hotel. The tasting is my time with the bride, groom and family to go through all details of the wedding, timelines, décor, and all cuisine.

To the end of the day which results in a big hug from the Bride, as she now knows all details are in my extremely organized hands.

Then the DAY IS HERE!

As I put final touches on the room....

The room is still and there is a beautiful calm prior to the bride walking down the aisle. I slowly open the door to the room and the smile I get from the bride is why I do the job I do.

When the ceremony concludes the pictures begin.

The party does not stop until the bride and groom make their grand entrance.

A beautiful setting for a beautiful couple.

Then the party takes full force and as guests eat, drink and dance the night away. I go home a happy girl with another successful wedding under my belt.
